Cornmeal Cheeseburger Pizza by Gene
INGREDIENTS
1 envelope of yeast 3 1/2 cups of Pillsbury's BEST flour
1 & 1/3 cup of water 85 degrees 1/2 cup corn meal
1 teaspoon sugar 1 lb. ground beef
a little salt 3 cups shredded Mozzarella Cheese
2 teaspoons Olive oil 1 small can (8 oz) pizza sauce
pizza seasoning, oregano, pepper flakes (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS
-------mix together and let this sit about 5 minutes
1 envelope of yeast
(1 & 1/3) cup of water about 85 degrees
1 teaspoon sugar
a little salt
2 tsp of oil (I use Olive Oil)
------- Knead together add the flour slowly and knead until you
have a smooth ball about 10 minutes. (5 min. with dough hook on
mixer)
1/2 cup corn meal
3 1/2 cups of flour
put in a little olive oil as it forms a ball of dough
----------------let rise about 45 minutes ( 25 minutes quick rise
yeast) in same mixing bowl -- covered and in a warm place
--------Brown the ground beef in a frying pan.
--------Lightly oil with olive oil a 16" pizza pan and sprinkle
with lightly with corn meal.
--------Punch down the dough and spread out the dough on the pizza
pan, make little rim around edge.
--------Spread olive oil lightly over the top of the pizza dough.
(This will keep the crust from getting soggy.)
--------Spread out the sauce on top of the dough.
--------Spread out the browned ground beef (you can add mushrooms,
etc. at this point).
--------Spread over the top 3 cups of shredded Mozzarella cheese
(not completely to edge).
--------Place pizza/oven stones or tiles in the oven on the middle
shelf and preheat oven to 425 degrees.
--------Cook pizza about 12-14 minutes until crust edge is golden
and cheese begins to brown slightly.
--------Remove from oven and sprinkle with oregano or pepper flakes.
------- Serve This will feed 4 to 5 adults.
This recipe can be cut in half.
